Casting has been announced for the Roundabout Theatre Company's off-Broadway production of Simon Gray’s comedy-drama The Common Pursuit, directed by Moisés Kaufman. Josh Cooke, Kieran Campion and more will headline the show, which will begin previews at the Laura Pels Theatre on May 4, 2012, and opens on May 24. The limited engagement will run through July 29, 2012.
The Common Pursuit will feature Josh Cooke as Stuart, Kristen Bush as Marigold, Kieran Campion as Peter, Jacob Fishel as Martin, Tim McGeever as Humphry and Lucas Near-Verbrugghe as Nick.
The Common Pursuit chronicles the lives of six friends throughout a 20-year span. When Stuart Thorne (Cooke) enlists his fellow Cambridge classmates to help him start a new literary magazine, the literature buffs become lifelong friends. Once the challenges of the real world set in, Stuart must make some unexpected decisions.
Cooke is making his New York stage debut in The Common Pursuit. His stage credits include Come Back Little Sheba, and film credits include I Love You Man, Quarantine 2, Group Sex, A Fork in the Road, YPF, Wasted and Partners. Bush has been seen off-Broadway in Kin, Photograph 51 and King Lear, and her screen credits include Liberal Arts, Synechdoche, NY, L&O:SVU, The Good Wife, Person of Interest and more. Campion has appeared on Broadway in Pygmalion, The American Plan, Journey’s End and Our Town, and off-Broadway in House and Garden, Everett Beekin and Substitution, among others.
Fishel appeared on Broadway in Fiddler on the Roof and off-Broadway in The Broken Heart, Titus Andronicus, Women Beware Women and Macbeth. McGeever has been seen on Broadway in Les Liaisons Dangereuses and off-Broadway in Rome, The White Devil, Lifegame, Tartuffe and Fully Committed. Near-Verbrugghe appeared in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and The Ritz on Broadway, and his off-Broadway credits include Macbeth, Oorah!, boom, The Most Excellent Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and As You Like It.
The design team for The Common Pursuit includes Derek McLane (sets), Clint Ramos (costumes) and David Lander (lights).
